Welcome to 2024, beauties! I absolutely love the fresh new energy that January brings as it gives us this perfect opportunity to reset, recenter, get grounded, reflect and set new intentions that align with our desires for the upcoming year. I love the process of reflecting on the previous year and spending time with myself, in ritual, to uncover what energies I’m calling in for the next 12 months.
Every year, I engage in a meditation and practice to unveil my word of the year. This year, my word is embodiment. The art of embodying that elevated version of myself is the art of behaving ‘as if’ in the current moment. I am really looking forward to EMBODYING these new versions of myself in various aspects of my life from fitness, to motherhood and as a business owner. I feel that embodiment is going to the bridge to take me from where I am to where I desire to be and that feels really nourishing and exciting.
The word of the year that we are working with here at Citrine, as a company, is ALCHEMY. Alchemy is the process of creating, elevating and enhancing something into something far more juicer and magical. We’re ready to transmute some energy and make major waves this year so stay tuned for a lot more magic coming your way. Meanwhile, I am spending the month doing a major deep dive when it comes to self care and nourishing myself from head-to-toe… mind, body and spirit. There will be a lot of nourishment, replenishment and TLC to my skin and body. Join me in this activated intention for the month ahead. Let’s get right into my favorites for January!
If you’re like me and tend to be very dry in the winter months, this is the face mask for you. It really works to target dehydrated, flakey, irritated complexions and delivers incredible results with the most luxurious boost of moisture. It sinks straight into the skin and immediately quenches each skin cell, drenching them in hydration and preventing future moisture loss in the skin barrier. I love that it instantaneously brings suppleness back into my complexion and repairs any of the dryness I was experiencing.
Kypris is known for it’s sustainably grown wildcrafted botanicals and unique ingredients and this mask features algae,plankton, seaweed and silver ear mushroom to retain moisture; cherry blossom extract to strengthen skin barrier and stimulate elasticity; turmeric to reduce inflammation; chaga mushrooms to protect the skin’s microbiome; wakame to elevate oxygen in the cells and sea fennel skin cells to firm and plump. This mask is on the more indulgent side but you can see why. The ingredients are just incredible, plus a little product goes a long way so it does last quite a while.
It’s such a healing mask to use after an outdoor adventure and exposure to the elements such as wind or UV overexposure. I know that many of you are returning from winter holiday trips so this would be a great reparative option. You can even use this as an overnight mask and wake up with the most supple, plump skin. The smooth jelly texture is not sticky at all and it leaves zero marks on your bedding.
One of my skin care goals in the new year is to wear an SPF year round. I have to be honest, I don’t always wear one in the winter months so I’m very excited to introduce this hydrating SPF primper into my daily ritual. It’s so important to remember that UVA and UVB damage can occur even during the colder months so this is that perfect way to get your SPF in while priming your skin for makeup. I love this because it has this really beautiful pink tint that gives the skin this radiant finish while evening out my skin tone. Formulated with green tea to stimulate and tighten the skin, Hyaluronic Acid and Fitglow’s signature ingredient, cloudberry, is a brightening powerhouse with a high vitamin C content so you’re getting that extra dose of antioxidants. It’s the perfect nourishing base for makeup and helps create that silky canvas.
Starting off with one of my favorite beauty tips - double cleansing - I’m sharing this beautiful oil cleanser by Patyka. Especially for the drier Winter months, I absolutely recommend using an oil cleanser as a first step when cleansing to really nourish & hydrate the skin while removing makeup & impurities from the day. This is one of my OG favorite cleansing oils and the first step in the Patyka Delicate Cleansing Ritual. I find myself reaching for it when the weather is cooler & on the drier side because of its ultra-hydrating formula. It includes rosehip oil, prickly pear extract & hazelnut oil, all of which help to improve skin cell tissue & support the skin cell barrier. Massaging this oil cleanser into the skin feels so luxurious, so take a moment to be present with your skincare when using such an indulgent, beautifying product. It removes all traces of my makeup & leaves my skin feeling super supple before the next step...
This is the gentle second step to the Delicate Cleansing Ritual. Going in with this foam is that extra assurance that I am removing all dirt, debris, makeup & environmental toxins from the day. Since I do wear makeup almost daily, it’s so important for me to ensure that every trace is washed off before I get into bed. Double cleansing with a foam gives you that clean & smooth yet hydrated base for your other skincare products to penetrate on a deeper level.
In the last couple of years I have gotten more and more into head-to-toe body care and really taking more time to treat the skin on my body the same way that I do my face. As I’m now in my 40s, I’m really taking my body care ritual to the next level and this Fitglow body cream has been one of my favorite products throughout the years. They recently reformulated it to focus on brightening the skin as well as resurfacing and I have been LOVING it. Vitamin C works to target any hyperpigmentation and protect the skin and is actually an ingredient we don’t often see in body care so I am really excited to see the results of continuous use this year. Bakuchiol is a plant powered Retinol alternative so it has skin cell regenerative properties and is going to give you that gentle resurfacing effect. This is super soft, hydrating and absorbs right into the skin, leaving me feeling silky smooth and supple.
